Stand on the side of social justice

Unequal service delivery is not by chance, but by choice. The cost of unequal service delivery is in human lives—and we estimate that it contributes to the death of one person every four seconds. Deaths resulting from hunger, lack of access to healthcare, and climate change issues in developing and least developed countries.

According to UNICEF, young people have historically led the charge against environmental, social, and racial injustice. Millions of children and young people globally voiced their concerns and demanded that their governments take action on climate change. Their voices have demonstrated the urgency they are feeling that time is running out and that they, as the younger generation, will suffer the consequences of climate change more greatly than their parents and grandparents.

According to the World Bank, by the time many of the teenage climate activists of today are in their late 20s, climate change could force an additional 100 million people into extreme poverty. In addition, by 2050, the International Food Policy Research institute estimates a 20% increase in malnourished children compared to what we would see without climate change.

Today is not too late to help—to show compassion and kindness—to people facing unequal service delivery—experiencing hunger, poor water quality, displacement, climate change, multidimensional poverty, and the digital divide.

We estimate that 1 in 5 individuals would be interested in at least one of the global injustice issues, and could go to the extent of giving towards solving the issues. Many non-governmental organizations have donated towards helping the needy live better by providing things like food, clean drinking water, shelter, healthcare, schools, digital technology, the internet, and money.

Elected political office holders have a lot to do with policies and financial support towards helping residents enjoy an adequate standard of living. And also coming together to make the world a peaceful place.

This groundswell of universal interest needs to reach the corridors of power—so we call on the people of Canada to engage their elected officers handling finance, internal and external affairs, and justice portfolios. This can be done in writing and we have made it easy for civil society if you use the button at the top of the page.
